Blood Pressure Testing

26/04/2008

Last Saturday saw Rotarians up and down the country supporting the Stroke Associations "Stroke Awareness Day", and the Rotary Club of Hanwell and Northfields teamed up with the new Broadway Health Centre, Southall to provide FREE blood pressure tests.

In the 4 1/2 hours that they were providing these free tests, they saw 91 people, many of whom had never had their blood pressure tested before. Fortunately the majority of people who were seen by the volunteer nurses had "normal" blood pressure readings, but 19 people were recommended to contact their GP, and some of these urgently, as they Blood Pressure readings were very high.

Bill Tillotson, President of the Rotary Club of Hanwell & Northfields said " supporting the Stroke Associations Stroke Awareness Day has been a regular feature on our calendar for 4 years now, and it really is good to be able to support this initiative, especially as Strokes are one of the biggest killers in this country"

Shabnam Sharma, Neighbourhood Manager, Southall (South) who is responsible for this new facility in Southall Broadway said "This is EXACTLY the type of initiative I want to develop in Southall and to be able to offer it through our community sites. We would like to say a very big THANK YOU to The Rotary Club of Hanwell & Northfields for organising this event".
