Technology Tournament

12/03/2015

This was staged at Brentside High School as an Applied Learning Day.

Around 50 students took part in teams of three or four; the task was to design and build a device which could remove a 'radioactive meteorite' aka a tennis ball from a confined space and deposit it safely on a landing target.

There were a number of different approaches but the common experience was that throughout the day every design was revised and improved as the practical issues of weight and leverage affected plans that looked good on paper.
