A Meeting with a Difference

01/01/2006

On Tuesday the 31st January the club was invited to hold its weekly meeting in the Council Chamber at Ealing Town Hall.

The evening started at 1915 hrs with a reception in the Mayors Parlour, hosted by the Mayor and Mayoress of Ealing, Councillor Michael Elliott and Julie Clements Elliott.

After drinks and a buffet we then moved to the Council Chamber to hold our meeting which both the Mayor and Mayoress attended.

We had a speaker who has worked with Vision Aid Overseas, the organization featured in our last issue.

Peter Mills who is a local optician is also a member of the Yiewsley and West Drayton Rotary Club, and has been working with VAO for over 20 years. Every year he pays 600 to join one of the teams going out to Uganda to help the local people there.

Whilst there he and other opticians carryout vital operations on peoples eyes and distribute the donated glasses.

We were also joined on the night by two local opticians from the area, Dilesh Patel of Mirage Opticians and Kenneth Kennell.
