Thanks For Life Week

20/02/2010

During this week our efforts are firmly focussed on the project to eradicate Polio from the world.

This debilitating virus used to affect 1000 children per day in 1985 when the eradication programme started.

The figure for the whole of last year was 1500 but this is still too many as epidemics can break out and spread rapidly. Polio is still endemic in four countries Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Nigeria. We will be raising money to provide the vaccine for an immunisation campaign orchestrated with the World health Organisation.
