Ambassadorial Scholar Arrives from Ghana

Another innovation for this year is that we have taken on the hosting of a Rotary Foundation Scholar.

Yaw Nyadu Offei, is one of 23 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars studying in London this year; there are a total of 130 in the UK. The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship Program is unique, in that not only does Rotary provide funding for students like Yaw, but more importantly it provides a support network to help guide the students while they are in a strange country.

Yaw is fram a small town called Wuinneba, which is approximately 90KM from Accra, Ghana. Yaw is studying at University College London (UCL) and is the beneficiary of a scholarship which was donated by Rotary in the Netherlands.

We hope to take Yaw to Holland to meet representatives from the club in Holland who have provided financial support for him.

Yaw is studying Audiological Science at UCL, which will enable him to treat people with hearing problems when he returns to Ghana; apparently hearing problems are common among the population of Ghana, and despite there being 23 million people in Ghana there are only 10 Audiologists.
